From the Prairie

Late summer is a time of transition. The intense heat is finally fading, and in Manhattan the sounds of K-State football begin to fill the air. The prairie, too, is in transition. Moving from the bursting energy of summer growth into the dormancy that will turn grasses their supple reds and golds. The wildlife begins to re-awaken after surviving the heat by limited activity, and suddenly the whole prairie seems bursting with the sounds of birds again… celebrating the onset of potentially the most beautiful season on the prairie—fall.
At Prairiewood, we too are celebrating; celebrating the transition into fall, and celebrating the end of our first summer open for business. We have come a long way since we officially opened in January, and many wonderful individuals have played a part in bringing us this far.
The story of Prairiewood is being written. Each guest that comes adds part of a chapter. The chapters are taking shape, but the story is just beginning. If you have been part of our story, we are honored and welcome you back anytime. If you have never experienced what all this excitement is about, we invite you to consider exploring how you might utilize Prairiewood for an upcoming event.

Connecting the dots
Prairiewood is unlike any other property in the region. Being different is good. Being different is important. But being different is also a good way to leave people confused! Because there is nothing else like Prairiewood, we frequently hear someone familiar with Priariewood say “I never thought of using Prairiewood like that” after hearing about a particular use by another guest.
So, for the record, here is a list of five good uses for Prairiewood:
1.) Family Reunions—Even with some family staying at other “overflow” accommodations in town, a reunion weekend built around Prairiewood is a great value. Just when a hotel reunion would begin to get old, Prairiewood just begins to shine brighter. And, several guests have told us their reunion was much better attended (than their past reunions) by promoting Prairiewood as the venue.
2.) Board and Business Meetings—More and more businesses are coming to understand that the space around us has an effect on what is inside of us. When it is time to make critical decisions, plan important strategy, or inspire
priceless vision, a stale or familiarconference building often isn’t the best choice. A meeting at Prairiewood will pull your group “out of the fray”, providing invaluable perspective, which will exponentially increase the effectiveness of any important meeting.
3.) Vacation Rental—Forget “staycation”, a stay at Prairiewood with family or friends is truly a vacation, no matter where you are from. We have hosted wonderful vacation stays for groups of family or friends who report that the diversity of activities available is more than some five-star resorts.
4.) Wedding Events—Combining accommodations for the groom’s or bride’s wedding party with using Prairiewood to host the rehearsal dinner or reception is an incredible value—and makes for a one-of-a-kind experience that will galvanize special memories for everyone involved. One recent bride reported that she was continually surprised how perfectly Prairiewood worked as a base for her wedding activities, even after she believed it would be!
5.) Receptions—Allowing Prairiewood to host a special reception for special people has proven to leave just the distinctive impression that is often hoped
Prairiewood offers first-class dining and meeting spaces.
for on such occasions. Novel, unique, and surprisingly abundant, Prairiewood
really is a great choice for a reception when the people involved are as important as the event. Whether offering your staff a real taste of your appreciation by holding your holiday party at Prairiewood, or holding an evening appreciation dinner catered by one of our exclusive caterers, Prairiewood will provide that
one-of-a-kind experience available nowhere else.
