We fell in love with the Flint Hills tallgrass prairie when we each came to Manhattan to attend Kansas State University. Now, some 20 years later after graduating, we have made the Flint Hills our home - and Prairiewood our labor of love. Together with our three children, we enjoy the charm of Manhattan living, KSU sports, and the great outdoors of this special place.
Prairiewood is very unique and very versatile. We strive to make it intentionally intimate, unusually private, and thoroughly welcoming. While just next to town, there is feeling of being a million miles away. The land has a subtle yet profound beauty that tends to calm our nerves and inspire our dreams. We take great pleasure in sharing this very special place which we so love.

Imagine a place where life slows down and you can experience the richness of the Flint Hills in a first-class retreat prepared just for you. In my role with Prairiewood, I get excited talking with people about walking through the tallgrass prairie, fishing in our pond, or splashing in our outdoor pool. Whether curling up in the sunroom reading a book and watching the many birds that stop by, or sharing the fireplace in the great room with family and friends, you will long remember your time spent in our beautiful and welcoming surroundings. From planning a simple catered meal with friends, a business meeting, or a unique wedding event, I take pride in helping each of our guests to experience first-hand what makes Prairiewood so special.
Having previously owned a full-scale event planning firm, living in Manhattan for over 30 years, and raising 3 children with my husband Rusty, I believe Prairiewood is a great asset for our community and region. I would count it a privilege to share more with you about how your visit can be all you imagine.

Growing up in Southeast Kansas gave me very limited exposure to the Flint Hills. It wasn’t until I came to Manhattan to attend Kansas State University that I discovered Kansas to be more than just flat. During my seven years here, I have grown to truly love these hills. Since joining Capstone Development Group in early 2010, it has been my honor to share the Flint Hills tallgrass prairie with others through Prairiewood. From serving our guests to managing our unique facility, it is a pleasure to play a role in what makes this place so special.
